Meet the Speakers and Presenters

Keith Dekker

Keith Dekker
has been involved in horticulture for over 47 years. For the last 32 years his career has focused on the comprehensive care of residential landscapes in the Pacific Northwest.

As a Clallam County Master Gardener and active volunteer with PlantAmnesty, Keith contributes to his community by teaching classes and giving talks to promote best practices for successful, sustainable gardening.

Keith lives on the Olympic Peninsula with his wife, and Arlo the wonder dog.

Andrea Daines

After moving to Sequim and retiring from her job as a professor, Andrea became a Master Gardener in Clallam County in 2019. Growing up in high desert southern Idaho, as the daughter of a doctor/farmer, drought and water management was part of the dinner table conversation. One positive to the high desert is the sparce fuel load for wildfires. But even as Andrea has fallen in love with the lush landscapes here in Washington state, she is increasingly wary of those fuel loads available to wildland fires as we get hotter and drier here in the Olympic Peninsula. Therefore, she is learning about fire mitigation and wants to share the information with you. On a practical note, she now owns goats for fuel reduction on her property!

Tricia Bachmeier

Tricia Bachmeier
is a new Master Gardener (class of 2025) and a retired Seattle firefighter/paramedic. During her 23-year career with Seattle Fire, she proudly trained and mentored many generations of future EMTs, firefighters and paramedics. Prior to working for Seattle Fire, Tricia worked as a wildland firefighter throughout Oregon and Washington. She knows firsthand the dangers that come from an improperly planned or poorly maintained landscape. Tricia graduated from University of Puget Sound with a BA in sports medicine. She currently uses this knowledge mainly to keep her own body healthy enough to enjoy riding her bicycle, hiking in the woods, and pursuing the other hobbies she is passionate about. These include gardening, woodworking, baking, and cooking unnecessarily elaborate meals for her family and friends. Tricia currently lives in Sequim with her husband Dan.

Pam Pace

Pam Pace is a past Kootenai County, Idaho Master Gardener and a current Clallam County Master Gardener.

During her lifelong gardening journey, she has grown vegetables, herbs, fruits and flowers in five different planting zones. She is now thrilled to be gardening in the North Olympic Peninsula with all of the challenges and joys it has to offer.

Pam spent her early adult years working in the culinary field and throughout the years has evolved into an adventurous home cook.  She combines her love and knowledge of cooking and gardening for this presentation.

Throughout the growing season, Pam is at the Woodcock Demonstration Garden in Sequim every Thursday morning where she oversees the Culinary Garden. When she is not at the Demonstration Garden, you will find her at her home garden, planting and harvesting or in her kitchen, cooking and preserving
